Handshake03

Atlanta Technical College issued the following announcement on July 30.

Ms. Constance Mack will begin her term as Chair of the Atlanta Technical College (ATC) Foundation Board of Trustees effective immediately.  Ms. Mack currently serves as the Director of Business Strategy & Initiatives at Bank of America.

“The Atlanta Technical College Foundation focuses on resources for the college, including scholarships, equipment, and community programs,” said Ms. Mack. “I enjoy serving on the Board of Trustees because of the opportunity to directly engage with students as well as support scholarship funding and expanding resources for the school. This work is important to me because of how the college maximizes each dollar received and the accelerated impact that technical education can have on shifting the career and economic trajectory of students. I love that I can see the immediate impact on a student’s life.”

Ms. Mack replaces Mr. William “Bill” Pinto as the Chair. Mr. Pinto joined the Local Board of Directors in 1997 as the college transitioned from local governance under the local school system to state governance under the Technical College System of Georgia, then known as the Department of Adult and Technical Education.  After his service on the Local Board of Directors, Mr. Pinto moved to the Foundation Board of Trustees, where he continued his stalwart support of the college and our students. He supported and participated in college events, including the annual college fundraiser, the Bridge Builder Awards. He was recognized with the Bridge Builders Presidential Award in 2012 and by the Technical College System as Volunteer of the Year in 2010. In 2018, Mr. Pinto was elected as chair of the Foundation Board.

“I want to personally congratulate Constance Mack as she begins her term as Chair of the Atlanta Technical College Foundation Board,” said outgoing Foundation Board chair Mr. Bill Pinto.  “She has shown passion for the mission of the Board in pursuit of serving the College and our students. Constance is uniquely qualified to lead the Board at this time as our entire college community emerges from almost a year and a half of uncertainty. She will lead a board that shares her passion and commitment to helping ATC students achieve success in whatever direction their education and skills training will take them. I’m proud to hand the gavel to Constance and welcome her to this new role in her ATCF leadership position. The Board is in very capable hands.”

“Our Foundation Board represents the leadership of our community and provides invaluable insights to their needs,” said ATC President Dr. Victoria Seals.  “While Mr. Pinto’s leadership will be missed, we are extremely excited to welcome Ms. Mack’s direction and look forward to working with her for years to come.”

Atlanta Technical College would like to announce the hiring of the new Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Ms. Shannon Georgecink.  Before joining the team at Atlanta Technical College, Ms. Georgecink served as the Advancement Communications Director at Marist School and the Director of Communication at The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education.  Combining her knowledge of community issues and strategic planning, Ms. Georgecink has served as the executive director of Metropolitan Counseling Services for the last eight years, ensuring that quality, affordable mental health services are available to every adult needing care.  Committed to the belief that successful communities thrive when their residents are supported by considering the whole person, Ms. Georgecink’s work in the greater Atlanta community has spanned many issue areas, including public education policy and at-risk women and children.

The Atlanta Technical College Foundation was founded in 1999 under the leadership of chairpersons Joseph Johnson and Carolyn Young. A 501(c)3 non-profit, The Atlanta Technical College Foundation’s mission is to provide support to Atlanta Technical College and the programs and activities carried out by the College. Its purpose is to acquire, retain, invest and administer funds exclusively for the benefit of Atlanta Technical College.
