A recent survey by the Trafalgar Group shows that most Americans have positive feelings about the country's flag.

This survey was conducted by Trafalgar in partnership with Convention of States Action, and surveyed 1,094 likely General Election voters, according to a press release.

The poll finds that the vast majority of Americans feel positive emotions about the American flag, with 81.7% saying they felt either "pride" (43.6%) or "patriotism" (38.1%), the release said.

Only 8.4% expressed the negative emotions of either "shame" or "suspicion," while 9.9% said they felt "indifference," the release said.

The results did show a difference between political-party affiliation among those who took the survey. About 70% of Democrats versus almost 94% of Republicans expressed positive emotions, while 82.2% of Independents or other parties expressed positive emotions toward the flag, the release said.

Those polled range in age from 18 to 65 and older. The survey says 7.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24, 14.2% were between the ages of 25 and 34, 14.9% were between the ages of 35 and 44, 36.% were between the ages of 45 and 64, and 26.6% were older than 65.

Convention of States Action is a grassroots political organization with over 5 million supporters across the United States, according to its website. The organization's primary focus is on calling an Article V Convention of the States to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution, the site says.

The Trafalgar Group is a public polling and market research firm, its website says.
