ATLANTA—City of Atlanta Director of Cultural Affairs Camille Russell Love has declared her intention to retire from her current role before the end of 2024. A national search will be conducted to find her replacement. Upon the appointment of her successor, Ms. Love will assume an emeritus role within the City as the Cultural Affairs Senior Advisor to the Mayor. Ms. Love has dedicated over twenty-five years to serving as one of the city's arts and culture experts under the leadership of five mayors.
The City of Atlanta announced a modified solid waste schedule in observance of Memorial Day. The Department of Public Works Office of Solid Waste Services will not collect garbage, recycling, yard trimmings, or bulk items on Monday, May 27, 2024. ATLANTA—Mayor Andre Dickens issued a statement following the approval of the Municipal Option Sales Tax (MOST) by Atlanta voters on May 21, 2024. The MOST is a 1-cent sales tax applied to most goods and services within the city. This tax assists in funding Atlanta’s two federal Consent Decrees: the Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO) Consent Decree and the Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSO) Consent Decree, issued in 1998 and 1999 respectively, which mandate investments in water and sewer improvements estimated at $4 billion.
