All players who were away for international duties have returned to Atlanta and are set to participate in Saturday's match against New York City FC. Atlanta United had the highest number of players, eight in total, called up from any MLS club. Among them was Miguel Almirón, who played in both of Paraguay's World Cup qualifying matches. Despite their absence, Atlanta United managed to secure a point in their previous game at TQL Stadium against FC Cincinnati.

Having the full squad back is crucial as Atlanta United faces a series of three consecutive home games. These matches, against New York City FC, FC Dallas, and New England Revolution, are pivotal in the team's quest for potential points at their home ground. Center back Derrick Williams expressed optimism about the upcoming fixtures, stating, "I'm looking forward to trying to keep this clean sheet and making Mercedes-Benz more of a fortress."

In preparation for the match against NYCFC, Atlanta United has added Dominik Chong Qui to their lineup on a short-term deal. This will be Chong Qui's last short-term agreement of the season. The 17-year-old made his debut recently and is now the third-youngest player in the club's history to play in an MLS match.

The team will be without Tristan Muyumba for a few weeks due to leg injuries. Muyumba, who had a strong season start with a 92.6% pass completion rate, exited the game against FC Cincinnati. Head coach Ronny Deila will rely on the depth of his squad, including returning players Bartosz Slisz and Jay Fortune, and healthy options like Will Reilly and Mateusz Klich, as he prepares to challenge his former club.
