The Atlanta Dream is set to open its 2025 season with a home game against the Indiana Fever on May 22 at State Farm Arena. This decision comes as the team seeks to capitalize on back-to-back playoff appearances and significant offseason developments, including new player acquisitions and the hiring of a renowned coach.
Larry Gottesdiener, the majority owner of the Atlanta Dream, commented on the venue change: “We have invested significant resources and energy into making Gateway Center Arena the most unique home-court experience in the WNBA. However, due to a scheduling conflict at Gateway, we saw an opportunity to bring this exciting early-season matchup to State Farm Arena, allowing even more fans to experience it. We appreciate the hospitality.”
The upcoming game will showcase top athletes from both teams. The Dream's roster now includes Brittney Griner, Brionna Jones, and Shatori Walker Kimbrough alongside returning stars Rhyne Howard, Allisha Gray, and Jordin Canada. Head Coach Karl Smesko will lead them for his first game after joining from collegiate basketball.
The Indiana Fever has also undergone changes with Stephanie White as their new coach and a lineup featuring Kelsey Mitchell, DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard, Aliyah Boston, and Caitlin Clark.
Dream President and COO Morgan Shaw Parker expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season: “The excitement around the Atlanta Dream has never been higher and we can’t wait to open this season in front of a packed house at State Farm Arena. There’s no doubt our home opener on May 22nd will be electric!”
In addition to the match itself, there will be celebrations recognizing organizations in Atlanta that support women and girls. Fans interested in attending can sign up for presale access via atlantadream.com or purchase tickets when they go on sale March 21.
Established in 2008 as the Southeast’s only WNBA franchise, the Atlanta Dream plays its games at Gateway Center Arena @ College Park. For more information about tickets or team updates, visit dream.wnba.com.
