Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens has issued a statement on the passing of James A. Washington, a respected figure in the field of journalism. Washington's contributions to prompting dialogue on issues central to Black communities have been acknowledged by Mayor Dickens, who expressed his condolences to Washington's family and loved ones.

In his statement, Mayor Andre Dickens said, "Atlanta has lost a great man in the passing of James A. Washington. Whether here at home or other markets, Washington used his talents and acumen in journalism to prompt dialogue on issues centric to Black communities, and we are all better for his work.
