In its annual “Best in Class” ceremony on November 17, 2022, three outstanding individuals were selected to represent the College in regional competitions. Following the regional competition, winning students and instructors will compete for the statewide titles in their respective areas. The final competition will be held in Atlanta, Georgia in April of 2023.
GOAL, a statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia, honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical college students. Local GOAL winners are selected at each of the state’s 22 technical colleges. All college GOAL winners will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Atlanta for three days in April. A panel of leaders from the business, industry and government sectors will interview them and choose one to be the 2023 Georgia GOAL Winner, TCSG’s Student of the Year, and the recipient of the GOAL medallion. The grand prize also includes a new car, courtesy of Kia, the statewide corporate sponsor of the GOAL program.

The Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction honors technical education’s most outstanding instructors. The award has been an ongoing statewide event since 1991 and is designed to recognize technical college instructors who make significant contributions to technical education through innovation and leadership in their fields. The winner must also exemplify excellence and a commitment to the mission of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) as the system’s Instructor of the Year. In addition to carrying the distinguished title, the recipient receives a check for $2,500 and an elegant, hand-cut crystal award. Ms Danielle Hibbert, the 2023 ATC RPA Instructor of the Year, is the program coordinator of the radiologic technology program, and has been with ATC for five years. “I am honored and excited to represent Atlanta Technical College at the regional competition. I will do my best to showcase not only my talents, skills, and passion for teaching but also our wonderful students and excellent staff and the impact our students impose on our community,” said Ms. Hibbert.
Ms. Danyale Williams has been chosen to represent Atlanta Technical College at the Dinah Culbreath Wayne EAGLE Leadership Institute March 1-2, 2023. The Leadership Institute recognizes and honors those students who have demonstrated superior achievement in adult education classes and programs. EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs. This student recognition program is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities that are available in local communities across the state and to foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits. “Leading up to this nomination, I was in the midst of darkness, but each level of achievement helped me weather the storm. The EAGLE nomination solidified my journey and has given me hope for a brighter future. I am honored to have been selected to spread this joy and opportunity throughout the state of Georgia,” said Ms. Williams.
