City of Atlanta Announces Modified Solid Waste Schedule on Martin Luther King Jr. Day One-day solid waste collection delay during the holiday week

Garbagetruck

The City of Atlanta announced the Department of Public Works Office of Solid Waste Services will not collect garbage, recycling, yard trimmings or bulk items on Monday, January 16, 2023, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The MLK holiday is especially important to the City’s solid waste employees as the civil rights champion was slain in 1968 while standing up for sanitation workers’ rights in Memphis, TN.

The schedule has been modified to include a one-day delay during the holiday week.

If Friday is a regular collection day, residents should place their carts curbside by 7 a.m. Saturday, January 21, for service.

The normal collection schedule will resume Monday, January 23, 2023.

Residents who need additional assistance can contact the City of Atlanta by dialing 404-546-0311. They may also visit www.atlantaga.gov/solidwaste.
