State Board Of Pardons And Paroles in Fulton County is home to six inmates serving a life sentence in Q4

There were six life sentenced inmates incarcerated at State Board Of Pardons And Paroles in Fulton County in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Lester Sally and James Henry Banks were the oldest at approximately 68-years-old.

John William Mason, a roughly 58-year-old man, was the youngest man sentenced to serve life in prison.

Georgia imprisons a higher percentage of its population than any other democracy in the world, locking up 968 per 100,000 people.

State spends between $25,000 and $30,000 on average annually on incarcerated individuals.

Georgia’s crime rate increased in recent years, leading to higher incarceration numbers and more taxpayer money spent on prisoners. Accusations of mistreatment of inmates, riots, deadly assaults on inmates, attacks on correctional officers, and concerns about the poor physical condition of the facilities are a continual problem in Georgia.
