Georgia police now say a man killed in a shootout with officers at a Redan-area gas station fatally wounded a mother driving for Lyft just before the encounter with police, according to a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Thirty-one-year-old Lyft driver Lauren Allen was dropping off a passenger at Wellborn and Marbut roads Monday evening when the passenger she dropped off got into a domestic dispute with a man police have now identified as 23-year-old Lerrell Chatman. At that point, he pulled out a gun and opened fire, fatally wounding the mother of three, FOX 5 reports.

Not long before the deadly encounter, authorities say the mother and Lyft driver had bumped into her dad, Peachtree Corners City Councilman Joe Sawyer, at a dollar store, and her last words to him were “thank you, daddy,” and “I love you.”

"Hug your kids, hug your grandkids, we'll be taking care of ours the rest of their life," Sawyer told FOX 5 Atlanta.

A Norcross High grad, family members describe Allen as a “hustler” who loved deeply and have now set up a GoFundMe account to help pay funeral expenses for the mother of three who spent several years driving for the ride-share company.
