FinTech Atlanta Launches Adopt a Start-Up Grant Program at Money 20/20 USA

Representing the capital of financial technology, FinTech Atlanta and the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) for the seventh year returned to the FinTech world’s most important trade show and conference – Money 20/20 USA – to showcase and convene Atlanta’s globally leading ecosystem.

In addition to showcasing Atlanta at Money 20/20 USA, FinTech Atlanta and MAC launched the Adopt a Start-up grant program where five prominent FinTech corporate companies from the region, including Deluxe, Global Payments, o15 Capital Partners, Truist and Visa, helped provide funding for five local start-ups to attend the tradeshow and conference. Adopt a Start-up is focused on supporting diversity within metro Atlanta’s entrepreneurial community, specifically with women and people of color founders. The 2022 group of founders selected include Bobby Gilbert, co-Founder & CEO at FundStory; Karen Houghton, CEO & founder at Infinite Giving; Donald Hawkins, founder & CEO at Kinly; Elizabeth Clubb, founder & CEO at myFloc; and Nate Washington, co-founder & CTO at Qoins. This year’s program culminated with a dinner featuring conversation around supporting diverse entrepreneurs within the FinTech ecosystem. Yizhu Wang, a senior reporter covering financial technology sectors for S&P Global Market Intelligence, moderated the conversation.

“FinTech Atlanta is excited to showcase Atlanta as a globally recognized capital of financial technology at Money 20/20,” Hillery Champagne, director of FinTech Atlanta. “Through the continued partnership of our board of directors and community partners, we are able to bring Atlanta’s FinTech ecosystem to the forefront on a global scale.”

Atlanta’s showcase as the capital of FinTech was experienced in both the content and exhibit hall at the tradeshow. Backbase, Featurespace, Kinly and Paya – to name a few – spoke as thought leaders on various panels and sessions while IDology, NCR, LexisNexis, Featurespace, Entersekt, Twilio, Endava and others showcased their latest and greatest on the tradeshow floor.

Atlanta start-up, myFloc, an expense management platform that prevents elder financial exploitation, was selected among nine other companies for America’s Got Access: Startup Competition. During the competition, each company conducted a live pitch and Q&A session in front of an expert panel. The winner received $100,000 and the opportunity to give their pitch on the main stage in front of 3,000 people.

To close the 2022 Money 20/20 USA tradeshow and conference, the Atlanta delegation hosted the sixth annual Transaction Alley reception on Oct. 25. The event welcomed more than 300 attendees throughout the evening to celebrate FinTech in Georgia with prospects, partners and clients.

Atlanta’s Money 20/20 USA presence and activations were made possible with the support of strategic partners: Aprio, Advanced Technology Development Center, Atlanta Blockchain Center, CIM Group, City of Alpharetta, Highline, Invest Atlanta, Independent Community Bankers of America ThinkTECH, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Select Fulton and UL Solutions.
