With record-breaking early voter turnout across the state amassing over 122.000 ballots cast over a 24-hour period, the Georgia Secretary of State's Office recently announced just under 520,000 voters have cast their ballot during in-person early voting.

The state is surging to nearly double the first day voting numbers seen in 2018, according to a Fox 5 Atlanta report.

"It has been fantastic to see, among Georgians, record early voting turnout every single day this week," Republican National Committee Georgia spokesperson, Garrison Douglas, said in the report.

This comes as Georgia is now viewed as a key battleground state in the midterm election, with heightened national interest in the state's gubernatorial and senate races, according to Fox 5.

"For the past couple of cycles, Georgians have seen how powerful their voices are,” Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson, Chrystian Woods, told Fox 5. “They saw how powerful they were in 2018 and how close we got in 2020 when we came out in record numbers.”

Both the gubernatorial and senate races have attracted big name supporters from both sides of the aisle, with heavyweights from each party recently joining their candidates on the campaign trail as the calendar ticks closer to Election Day and the races grow tighter.
