Fulton County Arts and Culture is Gearing up to Become the FACE of the Fashion Scene

Fulton County Arts & Culture is Gearing up to become the FACE of the Fashion Scene County leaders are preparing to unveil its new Fashion Art Culture & Education (FACE) initiative.

The Fulton County Department of Arts & Culture is pleased to announce the Fulton County Fashion Art Culture & Education (FACE) Experience, a new initiative highlighting the county’s robust resources in fashion, art, culture, and education.

Fulton County will officially unveil the first of several events highlighting its FACE initiative by hitting the catwalk on Thursday, September 15 at 10 a.m. The mini-fashion show will be performed by the CAU Art & Fashion Department, Billi Arnett, Chair and Atlanta Fashion Week. The showcase, which will be followed by a press conference will be held in the Atrium of the Government Center at 141 Pryor Street in downtown Atlanta.

During the FACE Experience, Arts & Culture will host a variety of fashion forward events from Monday, September 19 – Friday, October 28 at various locations throughout North and South

Fulton County. Arts & Culture will also join forces with industry and community partners such as: Hideoki, Clark Atlanta University (CAU), Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County Schools, Fulton County Libraries, City of Atlanta, City of Alpharetta, Atlanta Fashion Week, and more to provide a space for culturally enriching events designed to build connections across the art and fashion communities.

“Fulton County understands the importance of not only supporting the arts but recognizing the importance of the arts and its economic impact on our community,” said Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robb Pitts. “Through FACE and the work of Arts and Culture, residents will be able to connect with fashion industry experts who can demonstrate first-hand the benefits of fashion, art, and education.”

“FACE is approximately 40 days of cultural art experiences with a main focus on fashion,” said Fulton County Arts & Culture Director David Manuel. “This new initiative will do more than highlight the county’s investment in fashion, art, culture, and education, it will serve as the foundation needed to inspire art lovers and springboard the next generation of those inspired in these areas.”

Fulton County will also partner with business and fashion leaders Dedrick Thomas, Kenny Burns, T.I., and Julie Hogg, to help connect with Atlanta Public Schools and Fulton County Schools high school students. The entertainment and business influencers will join students for a “Teen Talks” conversation about fashion during a panel discussion on Monday, September 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Central Library of Atlanta.

“One of my favorite sayings by Civil Rights great Malcolm X states that education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today,” said Hideoki CEO Dedrick Thomas. “As part of FACE, this is routed in the foundation of our initiative which is to expose the community and students to fashion, arts and culture through education and experiences.”

“The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs is excited about the launch of FACE by Fulton County Arts & Culture as an addition to the fall lineup of cultural happenings,” said City of Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs’ Director Camille Russell Love.
