An arrest warrant has been issued for a Fulton County contract nurse after authorities said she was caught attempting to smuggle drugs into a jail May 15th.
In a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta, Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat credited a captain at the jail for catching 24-year-old TeQuera Ford in the act after showing up to work smelling of marijuana.
"Captain Strozier, she smelled a hint of marijuana," Labat told FOX 5 Atlanta. "She asked and actually the young lady said she had smoked prior to coming to work which is against our rules and regulations. We began to search her bag as normal and she grabbed her keys and ran, walked through the parking lot, jumped in her car and left."
According to the report, deputies discovered 6.8 ounces of marijuana, 20 grams of crack cocaine, 200 cigarettes and loose tobacco in a search of Ford's property.
Authorities told Fox 5 Atlanta that Ford fled from the jail in a black Nissan Altima bearing the Tennessee tag of 75A-R44.
Labat said investigators have reviewed a recorded phone call between the suspect and other individuals where Ford can be heard discussing how she planned to smuggle the drugs into the jail, the report stated. The sheriff told FOX 5 there is evidence that indicates this may not have been the first time Ford attempted to smuggle drugs into the facility.
Ford worked at the jail for a few months, the report stated.
Anyone who comes into contact with Ford is asked to call 911.
