GA US House District 5 issued the following announcement on May 6.
On May 2, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) announced Georgia State University’s School of Social Work Professional Excellence Program the Child Welfare Training Collaborative (CWTC) will receive $200,000 from a Community Project Funding Request. The money will support CWTC’s work improving mental health services for children throughout Georgia.
Congresswoman Williams said:
“A strong support system makes all the difference in a child’s life. I know this because a strong support system was the game changer for me. The resources I secured for the Child Welfare Training Collaborative, will open doors for Georgia’s children so they can thrive. The Community Project Funding process exists so we can solve our most pressing, local needs. The Child Welfare Training Collaborative is a perfect example of the projects Congress had in mind.”
Elizabeth Beck, Ph.D. Professor and Principal Investigator School of Social Work Andrew Young School of Policy Studies Georgia State University said:
“We’re grateful to Congresswoman Williams for securing this vital funding and partnering with the Child Welfare Training Collaborative to improve the quality of mental health services for children across Georgia. This investment will allow us to provide training and professional development to more service providers and community partners and ensure more children get the type of trauma-informed care and services they need and deserve.
