Kyle Pitts has arrived in Atlanta.
In just his fifth NFL game, the Falcons’ rookie receiver served notice for all to see, hauling in nine catches for 119 yards and a score during the team’s 27-20 win over New York in London on Oct. 10.
“I thought Kyle Pitts played the best game he’s played for us,” quarterback Matt Ryan told AtlantaFalcons.com. "I told him right before I came in here that I was proud of him. I think there are going to be a lot of those (games) in the future for him."
Pitts picked a good time to step up for the Falcons, who were without top receivers Calvin Ridley (personal matters) and Russell Gage (ankle injury).
“We all know what Kyle can do,” veteran Cordarrelle Patterson told the website. “Arthur Smith always says he expects stuff like that from Kyle, and we do, too. He was the No. 4 overall pick, and he's not shy out there. He's got every asset. He's got good speed, hands, routes."
With seven minutes remaining and the Jets having cut their deficit to just a field-goal, Pitts found himself in the middle of the play that finally put Falcons’ fans at ease, connecting with Ryan on a 39-yard pass play that pushed Atlanta deep into Jets territority.
“Kyle was able to get behind the defense,” Ryan added. “He has incredible speed for a tight end player, and that's not a thing most guys can do. That's why Kyle is here. And he'll continue to improve."
