LOVETT SCHOOL: Bush Paves Way for Future Polynesian Softball Players

Game haarlem netherlands womens softball world championship 2014

Lovett School issued the following announcement on July 14.

Team Kulia utilized Brooks fields at Lovett this past week to prepare themselves for an opportunity to gain national exposure.

Team Kulia is a 16u prep softball team based out of Kapolei, Hawaii and are coached by Wendell Au. Team Kulia uses the summertime to showcase their talents and gain college exposure by traveling to showcase tournaments in Colorado, Georgia, and Arizona.  Au and Lovett Softball Head Coach Perelini Bush first met two years ago when Bush worked at D-Bat Perimeter. The two coaches have stayed in contact ever since.

Bush the former standout University of Arizona Utility player mentions how this opportunity struck close to home.

“I have always had a special place in my heart for my Polynesian community,” Coach Bush said.  “I knew I had an opportunity to give back and help girls like myself experience support from institutions like Lovett. Whether it was talking and sharing my upbringing or letting them practice on our field so they can prepare. I enjoyed sharing what our school offers and what a day in the life of a Lovett student looks like. The biggest thing I wanted to share with them was that anything is possible because I can relate to where they come from.”

Team Kulia competed in the Atlanta Legacy Showcase this past weekend and their games can viewed online on their YouTube page @TeamKulia.
