Cost of college went up for all students at Spelman College

Tuition and fees rose 3.1 percent for 2018-19 at Spelman College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Georgia students paid $29,064 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $883 more than the $28,181 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 100 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 502 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.7 million and 464 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.7 million.

Including all undergraduates (2,171), 1,838 students used grants or scholarships totaling $25.1 million, and 1,611 students took out $11.4 million in federal student loans.
