The United States Secret Service announced on March 9 the appointment of Robert C. Donovan as Special Agent in Charge of its Atlanta Field Office, effective March 8.

Donovan will lead one of the largest field offices in the Southeast, overseeing investigations into protective intelligence, cyber-enabled financial crimes, and threats to America’s financial infrastructure and payment systems. The office also supports protective missions for high-ranking government officials and visiting world leaders.

According to the agency, Donovan previously served as Deputy Special Agent in Charge at the same office. He began his federal law enforcement career in 2000 as a Special Agent in the New York Field Office and has held assignments with the Presidential Protective Division, Counter Assault Team, and as a Congressional Fellow on Senate committees.

Donovan has also worked as Senior Advisor to the National Intelligence Officer for Cyber Issues at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. He is a recipient of two U.S. Intelligence Community awards for analysis and was awarded the U.S. Secret Service Medal of Valor for actions during September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center.

He holds degrees from Georgia College & State University and Sam Houston State University, and completed executive leadership training at American University in 2021.
