Aerospace products represent Georgia's leading export and significantly contribute to the state's manufacturing sector. Since 2015, over 40 aerospace-related facilities have been established or expanded in Georgia, creating more than 2,500 jobs. A collaborative culture among industry, academia, and government leaders supports ongoing growth.
Metro Atlanta is recognized as a national hub for aerospace and defense innovation due to its strategic location, skilled workforce, world-class research institutions, and major industry players such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Delta Air Lines. The area also fosters an environment conducive to start-ups and companies at various stages of development.
The Metro Atlanta Chamber collaborates with public and private stakeholders to create a business-friendly environment that supports economic success in Georgia. The state offers research and development tax credits and job creation incentives for aerospace firms. These initiatives led to a 14% increase in aerospace and defense companies in 2024.
Georgia Tech’s Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering ranks second nationally for training aerospace engineers. Its graduates drive advancements in hypersonics, defense technology, and unmanned aerial systems.
The Technical College System of Georgia equips students with skills for programs like Delta TechOps, the nation's largest maintenance repair facility. This talent pipeline is prepared to meet the projected 15% growth in Georgia's aerospace industry.
With over 800 aerospace companies operating within its borders—including PBS Aerospace—Georgia's aerospace sector contributes $57.5 billion to the economy. The state is well-positioned for future success due to its strong foundation.
