FOIA Request Sent to Georgia Judicial Retirement System Regarding Pension Roster on September 20, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Georgia Judicial Retirement System regarding their pension roster on September 20, 2024. The request was made by ATL Standard, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The records requested under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., are for the list of all active employees and retired employees within the organization's pension fund for the year of 2023. The specific data fields requested include last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, employer name, employment start date, employment end date, salary, compensation type, amount, year, process date, last disbursement amount, disbursement frequency and 2023 contribution amount.

As a media organization, we at ATL Standard believe in the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include providing comprehensive news coverage and ensuring transparency to the public.

We have requested these records preferably in an electronic format and have also asked for a fee waiver as a media professional. This request is part of our ongoing commitment to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public.

The Georgia Judicial Retirement System has yet to respond to this FOIA request.
