FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dekalb County, Illinois on September 26, 2024. The request was made by us at DeKalb Times, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request seeks access to public records of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until the date of the request. The requested details include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid.

As a media organization, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to these records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We have requested these records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140 and have asked for them in an electronic format for ease of dissemination.

We have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information. This is in line with our commitment to ensuring that important information about public expenditure is accessible and transparent.

We are currently awaiting a response from Dekalb County regarding this request.
