Atlanta United will return to MLS action against Western Conference opponent L.A. Galaxy on August 24, 2024. The match is set to take place at Dignity Health Sports Park at 10:30 p.m. ET (7:30 p.m. PST).

The team will don the 17s’ kit for this encounter, following their last MLS match, a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Crew on July 20. Atlanta subsequently participated in the Leagues Cup but did not advance past the group stage.

Newly acquired designated player Alexey Miranchuk will be traveling with the team for the first time. Additionally, Atlanta United’s Unified team will also travel to California to play against the Galaxy’s Unified team after the main event.

“For us, it has been a time to hit the reset button and really look at things,” said goalkeeper Brad Guzan regarding the three-week break between matches.

Fans can watch the game for free on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV or listen locally on radio stations 92.9 The Game and La Mejor, as well as Sirius XM Channel 157. Live streaming is available through MLS Season Pass on Apple TV App or online.

Atlanta United's recent form includes a match against Liga MX club Santos Laguna in the Leagues Cup group stages and almost three weeks of preparation for their remaining nine regular-season matches. They currently hold ninth place in the Eastern Conference with 28 points.

The L.A. Galaxy are leading the Western Conference with 49 points despite a recent loss to Seattle Sounders in the Round of 32 of Leagues Cup on August 8. During this transfer window, they acquired German midfielder Marco Reus.

Historically, Atlanta United holds a record of 3-1-0 against L.A. Galaxy, with their last meeting resulting in a 2-0 win for L.A. back in 2022 at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Key players to watch include Alexey Miranchuk for Atlanta United and Marco Reus for L.A. Galaxy. Miranchuk brings experience from Serie A where he helped Atalanta win UEFA Europa League and is expected to bolster Atlanta's attack by creating scoring opportunities. Reus adds significant offensive power to an already strong Galaxy lineup that includes top scorers Dejan Joveljic and Gabriel Pec.
