Atlanta United secures victory over Columbus Crew with two goals by Stian Gregersen

Atlanta United hosted Columbus Crew at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 20, 2024. The starting lineup for Atlanta United included Brad Guzan (C), Ronald Hernández, Stian Gregersen, Derrick Williams, Brooks Lennon, Bartosz Slisz, Tristan Muyumba (Luis Abram - 90'+4'), Jay Fortune, Xande Silva, Saba Lobjanidze, and Jamal Thiaré (Daniel Ríos - 63', Tyler Wolff - 90'+7'). Unused substitutes were Josh Cohen, Pedro Amador, Luke Brennan, Matt Edwards, Dax McCarty, and Edwin Mosquera.

Columbus Crew's starting XI featured Nicholas Hagen, Rudy Camacho, Yevhen Cheberko (Malte Amundsen - 79'), Mohamed Farsi (Aziel Jackson - 89'), Steven Moreira (C), Alexandru Matan, Sean Zawadzki, Max Arfsten, Cucho Hernandez, Diego Rossi and Christian Ramirez (Jacen Russell-Rowe - 79'). Their unused substitutes included Cole Johnson, Will Sands, Derrick Jones, Darlington Nagbe and Yaw Yeboah.

In terms of scoring:

- CLB: Diego Rossi scored in the 36th minute.

- ATL: Stian Gregersen scored twice with assists from Saba Lobjanidze in the 60th and 76th minutes.

Disciplinary actions included:

- ATL: Tristan Muyumba received a yellow card in the 25th minute.

- CLB: Yevhen Cheberko received a yellow card in the 29th minute.

- ATL: Brad Guzan received a yellow card in the 90'+6' minute.

Roster notes indicated that Saba Lobjanidze and Daniel Ríos are tied for the team lead with six goals each this season. Both players scored in Wednesday's draw against NYCFC. Pedro Amador was available on the bench and would make his MLS debut if he entered the match. Jay Fortune made his fifth MLS start of the season for Atlanta United. This match was Atlanta United's last regular-season game until August 24 as they will soon compete against clubs from MLS and Liga MX in Leagues Cup.

Player availability updates mentioned Noah Cobb being away on international duty for the Concacaf U-20 Championship. Stian Gregersen returned to the starting XI after missing Wednesday's match due to suspension following a red card shown during their loss to Montréal. Edwin Mosquera also returned to the bench after missing several weeks due to injury.
