Atlanta United midfielder Bartosz Slisz has become the first player from the club to participate in the UEFA European Championship. Slisz entered as a substitute in the 55th minute for Poland during their match against the Netherlands, which ended with a 2-1 victory for the Dutch. The game took place at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany.

The 25-year-old replaced Taras Romandczuk and contributed to Poland's midfield efforts in what was a closely contested match. Despite his efforts, Wout Weghorst scored for the Netherlands in the 83rd minute, securing their win. Earlier in the match, Poland had taken an early lead with a goal by former New England Revolution striker Adam Buksa in the 16th minute. Liverpool's Cody Gakpo equalized thirteen minutes later following a deflection.

Slisz has been representing Poland internationally since his debut in 2021 during a World Cup qualifier against San Marino and now holds ten caps for his country. In this tournament, Poland is placed in Group D and will face Austria on Friday, June 21, followed by France on Tuesday, June 25.

Slisz joined Atlanta United from Legia Warsaw of Poland's first division on a four-year contract starting January 2024.

Another Atlanta United player could also feature in UEFA EURO 2024 Germany; Saba Lobjanidze is part of Georgia's national team roster. Georgia will play their opening match against Turkey on Tuesday, June 18.
