State Representative Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently participated as a guest judge in the 2024 Flavor of Georgia Event held at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia. Reflecting on her experience, Rep. Schofield expressed, “The Flavor of Georgia Food Product Contest not only allowed me to engage with small business owners and food entrepreneurs but highlighted the use of Georgia Grown ingredients and products.” She added, “The contestants introduced products that represent Georgia’s food industry and trends, support agribusiness and contribute to our food economy.”

The Flavor of Georgia event, organized by the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES), has been instrumental in launching small startup food companies and expanding market recognition for established brands since 2007. The event is sponsored by various organizations including AGCO, the Georgia Department of Agriculture, Georgia Grown, the CAES Alumni Association, Farm Credit Associations of Georgia, and Corteva Agriscience.

At the 2024 Flavor of Georgia food contest, New Creation Soda Works emerged as the grand prize winner with their product, PECHES Georgia Peach Soda. This family-owned company, based in Bishop, Georgia, initially started selling their soda syrups at a local farmer’s market in 2015.
