State Representative Miriam Paris and former State Representative Erica Thomas Adeyemi are set to host an event in honor of International Women's Day on March 8, 2024, at the Georgia State Capitol. The event, taking place at 2:30 p.m. on the South Wing Steps, aims to celebrate the achievements of 100 women from various fields and industries.
Rep. Miriam Paris expressed her excitement about the event, stating, “It is an honor to join forces with former State Representative Erica Thomas Adeyemi in recognizing the outstanding contributions of these 100 women. Their achievements serve as a testament to the limitless potential of women to effect positive change and shape a more inclusive and equitable society.”
Former State Rep. Erica Thomas Adeyemi highlighted the significance of International Women's Day, saying, “International Women’s Day is an occasion to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of women from all walks of life. By honoring these 100 women, we not only recognize their individual achievements but also pay tribute to the collective strength and resilience of women everywhere.”
Among the honorees are individuals like Anya Kearns, a young Black Delta pilot breaking stereotypes in aviation, and Martice Sutton, the founder of Girls Going Global, providing a safe space for girls to pursue their aspirations.
The event at the Georgia State Capitol will bring together these inspiring women and aims to inspire future generations. Attendees are encouraged by Rep. Paris to wear shades of purple to show their support for International Women's Day.
