Atlanta Falcons' Cordarrelle Patterson was named Pro Football Writers of America's Most Improved Player of the Year.
Cordarrelle Patterson surprised everyone with career highs in nearly every offensive category during his first season with the Falcons, the team reported on their site.
"A breakout season for CP," the Falcons said on Twitter.
The versatile running back had the most rushing and receiving touchdowns on the team, as well as return kicks, the Falcons reported.
During his time with the Chicago Bears in 2020, Patterson made only touchdown, rushed 232 yards between 64 attempts and had 21 receptions for a total of 132 yards, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. In contrast, during his time with the Falcons in 2021, he made 11 touchdowns, rushed 618 yards between 153 attempts and had 52 receptions for 548 yards.
After Vic Beasley Jr., Patterson is the second Falcon to earn the Most Improved Player of the Year award in history, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. He also holds the distinction of being the only Falcon to ever score at least five each receiving and rushing touchdowns in one season.
Patterson shares the award with Dallas Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs, the Falcons reported.
