Phillips has served on the faculty at Georgia State University since 2009 and was recently promoted to professor. He has presented professionally in more than 30 states and five countries. In addition to his teaching and research/creative duties, Phillips is a clinician for the Educational Division of Conn-Selmer Inc. and was recently elected the College Division Chair for Georgia Music Educators Association.
“It is an honor to serve the School of Music in the role of Director. Many thanks to the outstanding faculty and staff who create such a wonderful place for music-making and collaboration,” said Phillips. “Together, we work to serve our students, the College of the Arts and Georgia State University by bringing real-world instruction to our world-class institution. We are ‘Music In The Heart of Atlanta,’ and I am thrilled to be here.”
Phillips will vacate his role as director of Athletic Bands and a search will begin immediately for that position.
