Georgia State University issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.
Dr. Lanying Du, a professor in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University, has been ranked in the top 0.1 percent of scientists in the world for having multiple highly cited papers based on field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index, according to the annual Highly Cited Researchers 2021 list by Clarivate.
The Highly Cited Researchers list identifies global research scientists and social scientists who have demonstrated exceptional influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple papers frequently cited by their peers during the last decade. Du was selected for the cross-field category.
Data analysis is performed on publications by bibliometric experts and data scientists to determine the names of scientists who rank in the top 1 percent by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index, the world’s most trusted publisher-independent global citation database. The analysis also determines the countries and research institutions where the scientists are based.
Around 6,600 of the world’s researchers were selected. This year’s list includes 24 Nobel Prize laureates and 77 Citation laureates, individuals who have been recognized by Clarivate through citation analysis as “of Nobel class” and potential Nobel Prize recipients.
