The Atlanta NAACP unanimously criticized and rejected the mayoral candidacy of Kasim Reed, citing half a dozen instances in a letter that showed the former mayor's administration was not good for the people of color, according to CBS 46 News.

"Atlanta can and must do better than elect Kasim Reed again. Thirteen other candidates are running, some with proven leadership ability and political experience and none with a record of administrative corruption," Richard Rose, a retired certified public accountant and president of Atlanta NAACP, said in the letter.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that corruption appeared to be rampant under Reed, with a reported seven indictments and convictions, including chief financial officer Jim Beard.

Rose claimed that Reed wasted taxpayer dollars trying to wrest land from Clark Atlanta University and Morris Brown College, AJC reported. Seven unarmed black people were killed by police during Reed's administration, which could have been avoided if Reed had embraced President Barack Obama's 21st Century Policing Policy, Rose said in the letter.

Reed pushed back the allegations and posted his campaign response on Instagram. "Our campaign is being attacked because we sought and received the support of the women and men of the Atlanta Police Department at a time when crime and violence is devastating our city," the post said. "We remain honored to have the support of The International Brotherhood of Police Officers (IBPO) Local 623 and are committed to making Atlanta safe in a manner that is consistent with our values as the cradle of the Civil Rights movement."
