Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard has been named to the 2025 WNBA All-Defense Second Team, according to an announcement by the league on October 8. This marks the first time since 2020 that a player from the Atlanta Dream has received this recognition.

Howard played a key role in leading her team to rank second in defensive rating across the WNBA. She led Atlanta in steals, was third on the team in blocks—first among guards—and finished tenth in the league for steals per game with an average of 1.6.

A standout moment for Howard came on August 29, when she became one of only three players this season to record six blocks in a single game and was the only guard to do so. In that same game, she made six three-pointers, making her the first player in WNBA history to achieve both six threes and six blocks in one game. Throughout the season, Howard had several games with at least three steals and three blocks, consistently challenging opponents both on the perimeter and inside.

“Now a three-time All-Star and Olympian, Howard’s selection further cements her status as one of the league’s premier two-way players,” stated the release.

This achievement adds to what has been described as a milestone-filled season for Atlanta, which included a franchise-record 30 wins, three All-Star selections, and multiple league awards.

The Atlanta Dream is based at Gateway Center Arena @ College Park and has been part of the WNBA since 2008. The team has produced twelve All-Stars since 2009 and reached the playoffs eleven times.
