Tyree Nelson, a former standout at Benjamin E. Mays High School and current player for the Valdosta State Blazers, is set to participate in the NCAA Division II Football Championship.
The team will start the tournament as the number one seed, facing off against the Albany State Golden Rams, who are also seeded first.
The opening game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m.
