Mercedes-Benz has announced a significant expansion of its North American headquarters in Sandy Springs, metro Atlanta. The company plans to create up to 500 new jobs as part of this initiative, further establishing the region as a center for innovation and industry growth.

Since moving its North American headquarters from New Jersey in 2018, Mercedes-Benz has become an important member of the local business community. The current expansion will bring key corporate roles from California and Detroit to Sandy Springs, showing metro Atlanta’s growing role in mobility innovation. The move is supported by the area’s skilled workforce and strong infrastructure.

In addition to expanding office space, Mercedes-Benz is investing in a new research and development center near its campus. This facility aims to drive innovation and provide high-skilled employment opportunities.

Gregg Simon, senior vice president of project and partner development at the Metro Atlanta Chamber, said: “This project is a great example of why companies choose metro Atlanta. What began with Mercedes’ headquarters relocation in 2015 has evolved into a decade of growth — from the stadium partnership to expansions in Sandy Springs and the new R&D hub at Georgia Tech. It’s a true reflection of the strong economic development partnerships and shared commitment that drive success across our region.”

Other automotive companies are also expanding their presence in Georgia. Porsche’s North American headquarters is located near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Rivian is setting up its East Coast headquarters along the Beltline and has started construction on a large manufacturing facility on metro Atlanta’s outskirts. Hyundai is building an electric vehicle manufacturing facility near Savannah, making use of major logistics centers in the state. Kia operates a large plant in West Point that plays an important role in Georgia’s manufacturing sector.

These investments contribute to Georgia being named the top state for business for twelve consecutive years.
