Jamie Henderson, who has been with Atlanta United since December 2019, will take on a new role as Sporting Director at Union Omaha in USL League One. During his time at Atlanta United, Henderson contributed to the club’s recruitment and player identification efforts.

Chris Henderson, Atlanta United Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director, said, “Jamie epitomizes the value that consistency and hard work can bring to an organization. While we’ll miss his dedication to the club, we’re thrilled for him to take the next step in his career and wish him the best of luck in Omaha.”

Henderson is originally from Lincoln, England. He played youth football at Doncaster Rovers and Lincoln City before moving to the United States to play at Bellevue University in Nebraska. After earning two degrees at Bellevue, he played two seasons for Toronto Lynx in what is now known as USL League Two. Following his playing career, Henderson worked at Agile Sports and served as director of player development at Papillion Soccer Club in Omaha before joining Atlanta United.

Union Omaha General Manager Alexis Boulos commented on Henderson’s appointment: “Jamie brings a unique blend of sporting experience, soccer IQ and an appreciation of the importance the Omaha community plays in the success of Union Omaha. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring Jamie back to Nebraska and reintroduce him to the soccer community as a part of our team.”

Owner Gary Green added, “As we continue to work towards our goals of winning a fourth Players’ Shield and a third playoff championship, we’re thrilled to welcome Jamie Henderson as our first ever sporting director. At Atlanta United, he helped build a squad capable of competing with the best clubs in North America, and we’re eager for him to bring that same expertise and vision to Omaha.”

Union Omaha has won USL League One championships in 2021 and 2024.

Atlanta United (4-12-10, 22 points) will play its next match against Toronto FC on Sunday, Aug. 24 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The game will be available through MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
