The Atlanta Falcons released their estimated injury report on Wednesday as the team prepares for a short week following their victory over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. Due to the compressed schedule and upcoming travel to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football, the Falcons held walkthroughs instead of a full practice, making the injury report an estimate.
A primary concern for the Falcons is the health of starting left tackle Jake Matthews, who exited Monday’s game at halftime with an ankle injury. Matthews holds the record for the longest start streak in Falcons history and currently has the longest active streak in the NFL. His availability for Sunday’s game remains uncertain as he was listed as a non-participant in the estimated report.
Head coach Raheem Morris addressed Matthews’ condition on Tuesday, stating, “We know who he is. We know what he doesn’t miss. We’ll just have to see, but I feel really positive about him and what happened based on not having any idea (Monday) night.”
The Falcons are also keeping an eye on rookie nickel Billy Bowman Jr., who missed Monday’s game due to a hamstring injury. Bowman, along with rookie Jalon Walker (groin), were both listed as non-participants in Wednesday’s estimate.
Other players listed as non-participants include EDGE Leonard Floyd (illness) and CB Clark Phillips III (triceps/illness).
Players who were limited in participation are WR Darnell Mooney (hamstring) and TE Feleipe Franks (calf). Full participants included DL LaCale London (triceps) and DL Ta’Quon Graham (calf).
On the San Francisco side, quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) and tight end George Kittle (hamstring) returned to practice this week, while receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) remains out but could return as the week progresses.
The Falcons will continue to monitor the status of their injured players as they prepare for their upcoming matchup against the 49ers.
