Greater Georgia announced on X that Sen. Jon Ossoff requires government-issued photo ID for attendees at his Atlanta “Rally for Our Republic,” saying he “values the security of his political rallies more than the security of Georgia’s votes.”

The announcement comes as Ossoff continues to oppose state and federal voter ID requirements, a stance that has drawn criticism from some lawmakers and advocacy groups. The issue has become a focal point in ongoing debates about election integrity and access in Georgia.

According to Greater Georgia’s post on X, Ossoff values the security of his political rallies more than the security of Georgia’s votes. The post included a screenshot of the rally instructions that require a matching government-issued photo ID verified against the RSVP list for entry. The instructions specify that due to security requirements, only confirmed RSVPs will be granted access to the event.

Fox News reported Rep. Mike Collins said “it is ridiculous that Ossoff would require a government ID to listen to him speak about why you shouldn’t need a government ID to vote.” Just the News noted the campaign event’s confirmation email specified this was due to security requirements. The National Republican Senatorial Committee posted that if you want to attend a Jon Ossoff rally, he’ll make you show a government-issued photo ID, while he’s fighting against ID requirements to vote in American elections.

Pew Research Center found that 83 percent of Americans favor requiring all voters to show government-issued photo identification to vote, including 95 percent of Republicans and 71 percent of Democrats. CNN’s Harry Enten reported that support for photo ID to vote stands at 85 percent among white Americans, 82 percent among Latino Americans, and 76 percent among Black Americans. The Republican Study Committee said the SAVE Act has been stalled in the Senate for nearly 300 days without a committee markup despite its passage in the House.

Greater Georgia was founded by former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler in 2021 and works to register more voters, reach diverse communities, and strengthen election transparency in Georgia. The organization grows community engagement through year-round outreach, promotes issue advocacy, and defends election integrity to preserve strong leadership up and down the ballot.
