Governor Brian P. Kemp has appointed Judge Susan Camp as the new State Court Judge for Douglas County, following a vacancy created by the passage of HB 1236.

Judge Camp has been a Magistrate Judge in Douglas County since 1995 and was elected Chief Magistrate Judge in 1998. She became the first woman elected to a judgeship in Douglas County and has served on the bench for almost thirty years. Before her judicial career, she worked as an assistant district attorney in North Georgia’s Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit and later practiced law privately in Douglasville.

Judge Camp holds both a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia. She lives in Douglas County with her two sons.
