Georgia Institute of Technology has advanced in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2026 rankings, moving up to No. 32 among national universities, a one-place improvement from the previous year. The university is now tied with New York University and University of California, Davis. Among public national universities, Georgia Tech remains at No. 9.

Georgia Tech President Ángel Cabrera stated, “Georgia Tech has emerged as a unique case in American higher education — an institution that delivers some of the best student outcomes in the nation while growing at a record pace in terms of enrollment, degrees granted, and research. I am delighted to see rankings like these recognize Georgia Tech among the best public universities in the nation, and I invite families, students, employers, and corporate partners to reach out and learn more about what we’re doing here.”

In engineering disciplines, Georgia Tech’s undergraduate programs have reached No. 3 overall nationally—an increase from last year’s No. 4 position. For the first time, three individual engineering programs—biomedical engineering, environmental engineering, and industrial and manufacturing engineering—were each ranked No. 1 simultaneously; industrial and manufacturing engineering has maintained this top ranking for 25 consecutive years.

The university’s computer science program achieved its highest ranking ever at No. 5 nationwide. Georgia Tech also earned a No. 1 ranking for mobile/web applications within computer science and continues to be listed among the top ten for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, programming languages, and theory.

The Scheller College of Business is ranked No. 19 overall among business schools nationally. Its management information systems program moved up to tie for second place with Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of Arizona; accounting improved to No. 40 from last year’s position at No. 48; marketing was included in the rankings for the first time at No. 36.

In addition to academic program achievements, Georgia Tech ranked No. 16 for Best Colleges for Veterans—a repeat of last year’s placement—and secured third place nationally for internships and co-ops opportunities available to undergraduates.

Other recognitions include maintaining twelfth place nationally for senior capstone experiences that prepare students with real-world problem-solving skills; advancing ten spots to reach twenty-first place in Best Undergraduate Teaching; holding third place on Most Innovative Universities lists; and entering into the top forty undergraduate psychology programs at thirty-third place after rising thirty positions over last year.

Not all colleges or subjects within Georgia Tech are evaluated by U.S. News & World Report every year.
