Georgia Institute of Technology has been named one of the top producers of Fulbright U.S. Students, according to the Fulbright Program. The recognition highlights Georgia Tech’s commitment to fostering global connections and supporting students and alumni in pursuing international opportunities.
“Thirty-five years ago, a Fulbright award changed my life and put me on the path I’m still on today,” said Ángel Cabrera, president of Georgia Tech. “Fulbright students benefit from unrivaled opportunities for education, personal development, and intercultural leadership, and they return home as globally aware problem-solvers with new perspectives and a renewed commitment to address humanity’s most pressing challenges. This program is dear to my heart and truly one of the greatest assets of American higher education, and I am immensely proud of Georgia Tech for becoming one of the foremost producers of Fulbright talent.”
In the current academic year, two Georgia Tech students and alumni were selected for Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards, while two others were named as alternates. Among this year’s recipients is alumna Nethra Rammohan, who is working as an English teaching assistant at a preparatory high school in Zurich, Switzerland. Rammohan graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Literature, Media, and Communication and acknowledged support from Georgia Tech’s Prestigious Fellowships Advising team during her application process.
Applicants from Georgia Tech receive guidance from Prestigious Fellowships advisor Georgia Brunner. “Not only does Fulbright provide students a way to conduct research, study, or gain valuable teaching experience,” Brunner said, “but the program also offers a unique chance to engage and immerse in other cultures and communities.”
To increase participation in the program, Georgia Tech introduced a summer Fulbright Application Boot Camp. This initiative has led to more applications for the 2025-26 cycle and is expected to drive further growth for 2026-27.
The Fulbright Program was established in 1946 as the U.S. government’s leading international academic exchange initiative. It offers Americans and participants from 160 countries opportunities to study, teach, or conduct research abroad. Alumni include numerous heads of state or government leaders as well as Nobel Laureates and Pulitzer Prize winners.
Fulbright operates under the U.S. Department of State with federal funding; additional support comes from partner governments, institutions, corporations, and foundations worldwide.
