Georgia State University announced on Mar. 18 the recipients of this year’s Ignite Awards, which recognize outstanding contributions in research, scholarship, and creative achievement across the university community.
The Ignite Awards are presented annually to honor individuals whose work has advanced knowledge, addressed complex challenges, fostered innovation, and improved quality of life in Georgia and beyond. The awards highlight the university’s commitment to supporting a vibrant research environment with more than $241 million in annual research expenditures.
This year’s honorees include Andrew Rizzo for the Postdoctoral Research Achievement Award; Thomas Mulkey for the Doctoral Research Achievement Award; Juarndai Gagnon for Research Administration Excellence; Bingchen Yu for Early Career Research Impact in Natural & Physical Sciences; Rachael Harrington for Early Career Research Impact in Social & Behavioral Sciences; Neelofer Qadir for Early Career Research Impact in Arts & Humanities; Amanda Gilmore and Laura Salazar for the Research Mentorship Award; Veronica Newton for the Research, Scholarship and Creativity Award; Daniel Pasciuti, Patricia Lawrence, and Raeda Anderson for the Faculty Research Partnership Award; and Gerardo Chowell for the Research Impact Award.
Awardees will be recognized at a special ceremony later this month. The university said these individuals have made significant impacts through their innovative work across various disciplines including public health, chemistry, sociology, English, communication sciences and disorders, physics and astronomy.
The recognition underscores Georgia State University’s ongoing efforts to promote excellence among its researchers, scholars, faculty members, and students. The institution continues to build its reputation as a highly active center of academic achievement and creative excellence.
