Georgia has set a new record in international trade, surpassing $60.2 billion in exports for 2025, according to an announcement by Governor Brian P. Kemp and the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD). This marks a 12.7% increase from the previous year, exceeding the national average export growth of 5.6%. The state also moved up in national rankings, reaching No. 9 for dollar value of exports and No. 7 for total trade value.

Governor Kemp credited Georgia’s logistics industry and small businesses for this achievement. “Georgia has broken export records for five consecutive years, and these incredible numbers are just the latest testament to our great logistics industry and the thousands of small businesses across our state who have shown the entire world the value of a Georgia-made product,” said Governor Kemp. “With our coastal and inland ports continuing to grow capacity while we make key investments in other logistics infrastructure, Georgia is well positioned to break even more trade records in the years to come.”

The leading export category was civilian aircraft and ancillary parts, followed by computers, hardware, storage units, motor vehicles, network communications equipment, and medical devices. Top destinations included Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Pat Wilson, GDEcD Commissioner, highlighted that Georgia’s trade performance is outpacing national trends. “Georgia is not just keeping pace, it is outpacing the nation in year-over-year growth for trade and export values. Georgia’s move into the Top 10 exporting states marks a shift in U.S. and global supply chains and highlights new opportunities in Southeast Asia,” said Wilson. “As a global gateway for aerospace, automotive, agriculture, and advanced manufacturing, Georgia connects Southeast companies to the world. These industry clusters drive one of Georgia’s greatest strengths: our diverse and resilient economy.”

Total trade facilitated by Georgia reached $210.7 billion—a 5.8% increase over last year—surpassing the national average growth rate of 4.9%. The main products traded were civilian aircraft parts; computers; motor vehicles; network equipment; as well as parts for motor vehicles.

Lizann Grupalo, Deputy Commissioner of Trade at GDEcD stated: “Georgia’s exports outpacing imports in year-over-year growth, combined with record-breaking totals, demonstrates that the state provides a winning combination of resources and services.” She added that their team supports exporters with hands-on assistance regardless of location within Georgia: “Our Trade team is proud to play a role in helping large and small exporters through hands-on support, customized consultations, and data-driven insights… In tandem with comprehensive in-market access provided by our international representatives, Georgia’s exporters build confidence as they take steps to enhance their global market presence.”

Internationally focused operations include more than twelve representatives covering over sixty markets worldwide—markets with full-time representation accounted for nearly four-fifths of exports last year.

Key infrastructure supporting this growth includes Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport—the busiest airport globally—and major seaports like Savannah (the largest single-terminal container facility) and Brunswick (a leading Roll-on/Roll-off cargo gateway). Additionally, the Governor’s Mansion serves as both residence and executive hub within Atlanta since its construction on eighteen acres in 1967.The State Executive leads government operations from this site as part of its executive branch functions.A representation office was also established in Japan back in 1973 to boost international economic development efforts. The government continues providing oversight aimed at supporting residents’ work lives statewide.

GDEcD publishes an annual International Trade Report using data from sources including the U.S. Census Bureau.
