FOIA Request to Georgia Institute of Technology Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at ATL Standard have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Georgia Institute of Technology. The request seeks detailed information about the university’s current Chinese National students and related policies.
The request specifically asks for documents or lists showing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, including their department of study. If such details are protected, we have requested the total number of these students broken down by department. Additionally, we seek information on scholarships received by these students, including amounts and sources.
Furthermore, our inquiry extends to any scholarship recipients affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council and requests identification of such scholarships if they overlap with other requests. We also ask for any university policies or procedures that describe how it monitors students, including Chinese Nationals, to protect its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.
This request is made on behalf of ATL Standard and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. Our goal is to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public. As media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news, we believe this access is essential for fulfilling our responsibilities. We have also requested a fee waiver given our role in disseminating information.
