FOIA Request to Fulton County Sheriff Office regarding undocumented person’s arrest records on August 18, 2025.

The ATL Standard, a media organization focused on local governmental affairs, has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Fulton County Sheriff Office. The request seeks access to specific inmate records under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., preferably in electronic format.

The request is for all inmate records of individuals with ICE detainers from February 2, 2025, through July 2, 2025. Additionally, it asks for a list of detainees who were turned over to ICE during the same period and includes the charges issued against each individual. The requester also seeks advanced notice of any potential charges for accessing these records.

As members of the media, we emphasize that access to public records is crucial for holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. We have requested a fee waiver based on our role in disseminating information to the public.

The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies using Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this organization can be found at this link.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
