The Atlanta Falcons are facing a critical moment after their 30-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The defeat, which marked the team’s second loss in three games, has raised concerns about their performance, particularly on offense.

Running back Bijan Robinson addressed the media following the game, emphasizing the importance of how the team responds to this setback. “I didn’t want to lose by 30 (Sunday). Obviously nobody did. But it happened,” Robinson said. “I believe this can either break a team or make a team. For us, this needs to make this team. We need to come in (Monday), we need to watch this game, and we all need to feel the same hurt the same way. This is a division game at that, so it needs to hurt even more.”

The Falcons’ offensive struggles have been apparent through three games. They have scored only one touchdown in their last eight quarters and failed to reach inside Carolina’s 31-yard line during Sunday’s contest. No wide receiver or tight end has caught a touchdown pass yet this season despite several first-round picks on offense.

Rushing touchdowns have also been scarce; Michael Penix Jr., Bijan Robinson, and Tyler Allgeier each have just one rushing score so far. Special teams have not provided enough support either, compounding the team’s difficulties.

Head coach Raheem Morris spoke candidly about the team’s performance: “Full transparency, we didn’t play well as a team. We didn’t play well particularly at the quarterback position,” Morris said Monday. “I love the accountability by Mike. I love the accountability by the guys around him. We didn’t play well enough around him. We didn’t play well enough for him. We didn’t give him the help that was required to go out there and win that football game from a special teams standpoint or offensive standpoint.”

Morris highlighted that both points and possession are essential for success in NFL football and acknowledged that without improvement in these areas, victories will be difficult to achieve.

Despite these challenges, there remains optimism within the organization due to its talented roster featuring players like Robinson, Drake London, Penix Jr., Kyle Pitts, and Darnell Mooney. The focus now shifts toward turning potential into results as they prepare for what could be a pivotal week in their season.

“For us,” Robinson said, “this loss right here, when people look back at it, this needs to be the week where we come together and it changed everything so we can become the team we want to become.”
