The Atlanta Falcons announced Friday that wide receiver David Sills V has been released from the active roster and safety Grayland Arnold has been released from injured reserve.
Sills joined the Falcons in January after spending a year on the Denver Broncos’ practice squad. He entered the NFL in 2019 as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills and later spent four seasons with the New York Giants, including time on their active roster in 2021 and 2022. During training camp with Atlanta, Sills progressed from working with second- and third-team offensive groups to running plays with the first-team offense. He also served as a backup to Drake London and participated in formations alongside London.
According to the organization, “This is not likely to be the last time the Falcons see Sills. He is an appreciated member of the receiver room, and could be back on the practice squad or active roster once he clears waivers.”
Grayland Arnold signed with Atlanta at the beginning of August after previous stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, and Pittsburgh Steelers. The 2020 undrafted free agent was only able to participate in eight days of practice before being placed on injured reserve on August 10.
With these moves, Atlanta’s active roster now stands at 52 players.
The team stated that “Practice squad elevations for Sunday’s home opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be announced Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET.”
