The Atlanta Falcons have placed safety DeMarcco Hellams on injured reserve ahead of their Week 14 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. This move is part of a series of roster changes announced by the team.
To fill the open spot, wide receiver Deven Thompkins was signed from the practice squad. Additionally, cornerback C.J. Henderson was elevated from the practice squad for this week’s game.
Hellams, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, did not participate in practice throughout the week. He played 28 snaps during last Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets and has appeared in 11 games this season, recording 10 tackles and one fumble recovery. Most of his contributions have come on special teams.
Thompkins has already been elevated twice from the practice squad this season and participated in games against both the Jets and Buffalo Bills. In New York, he caught two passes for 23 yards and had a single rushing attempt for five yards.
C.J. Henderson has yet to play during the current season but brings experience with 32 starts across 49 appearances since 2022.
The Falcons are scheduled to face off against the Seahawks at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, with coverage on FOX.
NFL rules allow each team to elevate two players from their practice squad to the active roster for each game day, with each player permitted three elevations per season before they must be signed to the full roster.
