The Atlanta Falcons lost 31-25 to the Indianapolis Colts in their Week 10 international NFL game, played at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium before a crowd of 72,203. The defeat dropped the Falcons’ season record to 3-6.
Atlanta’s defense achieved seven sacks in the game, marking its highest single-game total since 2018. Notably, seven different players each recorded a sack, setting a franchise record and making Atlanta one of only two teams this season with at least seven players earning a sack in one game; the other is the Denver Broncos.
Running back Tyler Allgeier scored two short rushing touchdowns for Atlanta, bringing his season total to six and surpassing his previous personal best from last year. Safety Jessie Bates III intercepted Colts quarterback Daniel Jones in the second quarter, reaching 26 career interceptions and ranking fourth among active NFL players.
The Falcons had 15 offensive plays gain at least ten yards, matching their highest number this season. They have also scored touchdowns on seven consecutive red-zone drives dating back to Week 7—the longest current streak in the league.
Quarterback Michael Penix Jr., drafted by Atlanta in 2024, saw overtime action for the first time but did not complete any of his three passes during that period. The team failed to convert any third downs against Indianapolis and has managed just eight conversions out of forty attempts over their last four losses.
Colts running back Jonathan Taylor rushed for 244 yards, setting a new record for most rushing yards by an opponent against Atlanta. This surpassed Marshall Faulk’s previous mark of 208 yards set in 2000.
Zane Gonzalez became the third kicker this season to make a field goal for Atlanta—a first in franchise history—joining Younghoe Koo and Parker Romo.
With their current record, it marks the twelfth time Atlanta has started a season at 3-6. In previous seasons with this start, they have never made the playoffs; historically only nine NFL teams have reached postseason after starting with such a record.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris commented on the loss: “We had plenty of opportunities to win it.”
Inside linebacker Kaden Elliss addressed expectations moving forward: “We’re close. But with six losses, we can’t be close anymore. It’s time to get over the hump and start stacking some wins.”
Wide receiver Drake London shared his reaction: “I don’t feel great. I think I can speak for the rest of the team: They don’t feel great either.”
Colts head coach Shane Steichen praised linebacker Zaire Franklin’s overtime performance: “He played lights-out for us… Zaire obviously getting a big-time play there at the end was huge.”
Statistical leaders included Daniel Jones (Colts) with 255 passing yards and one touchdown; Michael Penix Jr. (Falcons) with 177 passing yards and one touchdown; Jonathan Taylor (Colts) leading all rushers; Bijan Robinson (Falcons) as top rusher for Atlanta; Drake London (Falcons) as top receiver with six catches for 104 yards and one touchdown; Xavier Watts led Falcons tacklers with eleven total tackles.
Next week, Atlanta will face NFC South rival Carolina Panthers (5-5), who are coming off a loss to New Orleans Saints. The matchup will take place inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on FOX television coverage.
