The Atlanta Falcons secured a 24-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills in their Week 6 matchup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, witnessed by 72,067 fans. This win improved the Falcons’ record to 3-2 for the 2025 NFL season.
The Falcons’ defense continued its strong performance, holding every opponent this season to under 300 total yards, a streak not achieved by Atlanta in at least five straight games since 1998. The Bills were limited to 291 total yards, significantly below their season average of nearly 396 yards per game. The Falcons forced four three-and-outs against Buffalo, marking a season high for both teams.
Atlanta’s success on “Monday Night Football” also continued, as the team now holds an 8-1 record in such games since 2015, the highest winning percentage in the NFL for Monday night contests. The team also has a strong record when wearing its throwback uniforms with red helmets, standing at 14-3 since 2009.
Running back Tyler Allgeier scored on a 21-yard rush in the first quarter, marking his first time with rushing touchdowns in consecutive games since joining the Falcons in 2022. Bijan Robinson became the youngest Falcon to reach 4,000 career scrimmage yards at age 23, totaling 4,172 yards since being drafted in 2023.
The Falcons’ defense held Bills quarterback Josh Allen to a season-low 180 passing yards. Allen was intercepted twice by Falcons players Dee Alford and DeAngelo Malone, both of whom are not regular starters. The last time Allen had more than one interception in a game was during a 2024 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
Atlanta’s offense posted 335 net yards in the first half, more than any other team has managed in a half this season and their most since 2009. The blocked field goal by Bills defensive end Greg Rousseau increased Buffalo’s win probability from 14.7% to 27.6%, according to Next Gen Stats.
Robinson reached his milestone of 4,000 scrimmage yards at the same age as Colts running back Jonathan Taylor did in 2022. The Falcons are now 22-15 following bye weeks and have alternated wins and losses after byes since 2018.
Head coach Raheem Morris addressed the decision to make wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud III inactive for the game: “Coaching decision on Ray-Ray tonight, just like everybody else, anybody that you put down that’s not active. Decided to put him down tonight. He’ll be back out competing next week. We’ll see where we go. We had everybody we needed. We got everybody we wanted tonight, and we got out there and got a big win.”
Wide receiver Drake London commented on perceptions of the team: “I think, honestly, that’s Falcons football. But we have to change the narrative. We really got to get the city behind us. We got to keep it rocking. Too many blue jerseys in there. We got to change the script.”
Offensive lineman Michael Jerrell discussed stepping in for injured left tackle Jake Matthews: “A little bit. I was like, ‘Dang, big 70’s been holding it down for — what — 12, 13 years in the league.’ I’m pretty sure fans are so used to seeing on the side that when he goes down, it’s like, ‘All right, all right, who’s the next guy? He better do a good job, just like Jake.’ So, I mean, there’s a little bit of pressure, but God put me in this position. I feel like I can take on anything.”
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said of his team’s performance: “There’s no such thing as moral victories. But I did think that they battled down to the end right there, which I appreciate.”
Bills quarterback Josh Allen reflected on offensive struggles: “The other guys are going to get paid, too. They’re game planning just as hard as we are. Flat out, they just played better than us tonight.”
Key performers for Atlanta included quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who completed 20 of 32 passes for 250 yards and one touchdown; Bijan Robinson with 170 rushing yards and a touchdown; and Drake London with 158 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The Falcons will travel to California for their Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers (4-2) on Sunday. The matchup will be broadcast live on NBC at 8:20 p.m. ET. The 49ers are coming off a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
