Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) announced she secured a grant worth $18,411,751 from the U.S. Department of Transportation to reconstruct taxiways at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The money is allocated for taxiways B, E, F, M, and N.
Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05), a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Subcommittee on Aviation said:
“Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the world’s busiest and most efficient airport, the country’s most important piece of civilian infrastructure, and a source of Black wealth. We must invest in our airport so it can keep flying high for generations to come. With this grant, I am securing resources so Hartsfield-Jackson Airport can continue to serve its millions of passengers and generate economic mobility.”
Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) said:
“I’m proud we were able to direct $18 million in federal investments to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport that will improve services for the millions of passengers that travel through the world’s busiest airport. I have fought since day one in the Senate to make sure that Hartsfield-Jackson — a key economic engine in our state — has the support it needs from Washington to thrive as our economy changes. As a member of the Senate subcommittee that handles aviation, I’m going to continue working to make sure this money flows to Georgia as quickly as possible.”

“This grant will finance the rehabilitation and reconstruction of taxiways: improving safety, preserving the strength and expanding the life of the airfield’s pavement. Because of ATL’s conscientious financial oversight and planning, the Airport is able to accept the grant and put the money to work within a very short time. The Department of Transportation’s confidence in ATL manifests the Airport’s mission to work as one team, delivering excellence while connecting our community to the world.”
